It seems like the address suffix is not being validated?

Using the address:
10 S Dearborn Road
Chicago, IL 60670

The return is:
10 S Dearborn Rd
Chicago, IL 60603

If I use "10 S Dearborn Avenue", "10 S Dearborn Plaza", "10 S Dearborn Terrace" or just "10 S Dearborn" they all return whatever suffix was included. The GeoCode information is the same for all of them so it appears to all be the same actual location.

The parsed suffix is abbreviated correctly so it does pick it up but it appears to not actually validate it?

The correct address is "10 S Dearborn St".

Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick,

The zipcode of 60670 is what's called a "Unique Zipcode". A unique zip is assoicated or assigned to a school, church, business etc. No matter what suffix (or address) you pass, CASS requires that we standardize the address passed, and give a plus 4 of 0001. This is why no matter what suffix is submitted, the object will standardize it without changing it. Only with unique zips will this happen. Below is a link to the www.usps.com website showing zip 60670 as a unique. You can also use the address validation tool in which they will code the address the same way as our object.

Let me know if you have any questions.
