I am assembling some counts by SIC, and have noted several categories have the letters "Nec" after the heading. What does Nec signify? (Example: 1799 Special Trade Contractors, Nec )

Thanks!

Be careful using SIC codes. All to often they are applied by people who don't really know what the business does.

In my experience, when you try to select down to the 6-digit level you are usually losing more accuracy in the list than you gain from the more detailed specification. Select by the 4-digit code and stop.

At the very least, you should select lists where the desired SIC is specified as the PRIMARY for the company.
